Daycare pickup meltdowns
My son is 3 (will be 4 in April) and has been having huge meltdowns during daycare pick ups lately. He was fine until about a month or two ago and now it’s a daily challenge to get him to the car and into the car seat. I know kids can be overstimulated after school and realize he may be struggling with emotions during transitions but nothing seems to help. I’ve tried to redirect focus, give him choices, etc. Nothing seems to help. My husband usually picks up and will pick him up kicking and screaming out the door bc he doesn’t have a lot of patience. Anyone have other suggestions on what we can try? I wonder if showing up with a small snack every afternoon may help distract him temporarily. Not sure what to try beyond that. I tried a quick breathing exercises with him today when he refused to get into the car and that helped a bit but not sure if my husband will take time to try that.
