Thankfully, I have not been with someone abusive. But many women that have and left, tend to return. It is more common than not. But also sad because it is important for these women to understand their self-worth so they will have the will power to get away and stay away. An abuser will never change and it is best to leave them rather than kill them and serve life in prison. A person being abused will always return until they learn to truly love themselves. When a person loves themselves unconditionally, they will not and do not tolerate hurt, disrespect, pain, etc from a partner. I learned to stay out relationships, especially when a woman is being abused, because 90% of the time they go back to the abuser and then I look like an idiot for having helped her/him. I know someone who kept going back to her abuser. No matter how much I tried helping her to get away from him. And her family helped her on the daily too. Well it was not until she was 9 months pregnant and he punched her 3 times in the face then shoved her and then got on top of her and started choking her out --- that she finally decided to leave him for good. In that moment, she realized she had to live for herself and her child. He only stopped choking her because her sister walked in but after that day she pressed full charges on him and was done with him forever. But that want to cut him off had to come from her. No matter how much we helped, she never stayed away for long. But the day she realized her life was more important, she moved on and away from that man, forever.
