Separation after birth

Has anyone given birth and had to be separated from their newborn? We are being induced at 34 weeks and I have been told that I may only get a glance of the baby before they stabilize him to take him to the NICU. I won’t be able to go see him until 24 hours after birth once I am done with my magnesium drip. Has anyone else dealt with this and how did you cope? I know I can get pictures but after 10 years of infertility this is definitely now how I pictured meeting my son.
