How dark should a HCG test be?

I’m one day late for my period but my pregnancy test isn’t very dark. With my son it was a strong positive 5 days before I missed my period feeling a bit nervous.

If the test line is pink, whether light or dark, it’s a positive test.

Different pregnancy is all. With my first I got a faint line by 7dpo/8dpo and super positive at 9 dpo. With this pregnancy I got a super super faint line at 10 dpo. Obvious positive by 11 dpo but it probably wasn't as dark as my first 9dpo test until like 12-13 dpo which is generally when I start my period. It could have been even later. Everything was fine. I am 12 weeks now. So I wouldn't worry. You probably just implanted later with this pregnancy
