*read description first please!* Where should we live?
I just want some objective opinions here because I feel like I’m being too emotional about it. We’re trying to decide where to live. Please read pros and cons of each and let me know if it’s obvious what to do! Lol.
NJ - this is where we currently live.
Pros:
-easier to stay in-state
-I’m comfortable here
-more flexible homeschool laws for our kids
-close to family and friends
-husband’s job is here
Cons:
-my mom wants to move out of state (she’s the most important family member I have here—she’d be moving with us wherever we go)
-we don’t have THAT much family or friends and I feel isolated here anyway already
-it’s too freaking cold and we’re stuck inside for months out of the year
-it’s too expensive
-we’ve recently had some awful traumas and have bad memories here
MD
Pros:
-not too far of a move
-still driving distance from friends and family
-husband could keep his job and commute (he only works in-office once or twice a week and could stay overnight with family in NJ when necessary)
-a little warmer than NJ in winter
-a little less expensive than NJ
-change of scenery
Cons:
-it still gets pretty damn cold
-less flexible homeschool
-still pretty expensive (though not as bad as NJ)
GA
Pros:
-warm
-less expensive
-MASSIVE change of scenery and change of pace
Cons:
-homeschool less flexible than NJ (but more flexible than MD)
-it’s really damn far
-what if we hate it there?
-don’t know if we’ll fit in with the culture
-super far from friends and family
-husband would have to get a new job or work out a fully-remote arrangement with his current one
