i give my son just gerber purées! he’s 5 months. i just do it like every other night. he’s already learning to open his mouth for the spoon and swallow, so we’re getting somewhere at least!

We started rice cereal at 4 1/2 months. He’s doing so great! I’m going to introduce fruits and veggies this coming week. I plan on making my own!

At first I used a jar of store bought to see how she would go. This week I made mash and threw in some mixed veg, put it in the blender with some of her formula and water and she loves it 😊

I started with my son around 4 1/2 months with oatmeal cereal and then did veggies and now doing fruits. I’ve been making my own. 
He’s tried green beans, carrots, peas, avocado, apples, bananas. He loves it all. Bananas are his favorite right now. He was showing signs of interest before we started.

My daughter will be 5 months on Feb 17, 2023. 
I haven’t started solids yet, we are waiting until she is closer to the 6 month mark. I suspect we will let her try food a little bit before then though, maybe early March? She has already met her 6 month milestones, is in the 76th percentile for weight and 96th percentile for height. She was also born at 42 weeks. 
They say a bigger baby does not mean they need to start early though, but she does seem very keen on eating and showing other signs of readiness. We have been sitting her at the dining table since birth with us, and in the last week or so she grabs our plates/bowls, and gets upset that she can’t play with/eat the food…so we give her a baby bowl and spoon to play with or a breastmilk “Popsicle” in her haaka (it’s starting to feel mean, but her peds office recommends around 6 months typically (and the AAP)).
Right now she is breastfed and rarely uses a bottle, but we started offering pumped milk occasionally in a beginner sippy, she wants to feed herself and everything and has good control (she just hasn’t figured out tilting the cup all the way up lol). I’m planning to start with a mix of blw and purées because some blw scares me lol! I just want her to be a little more sturdy upright on her own and sitting taller first.

I’ve been trying them for a few week now and some baby porridge. She doesn’t seem too keen so far 😒 but I’ll keep giving it a go. When she hits 6 months I’ll start giving her some cooked vegetables sticks and soft finger foods. I’ve only used store bought purée so far. I wouldn’t want to waste my time making it when she’s not overly keen yet
