Birth control & weight gain
Hi ladies!
So, about 9 months ago I started taking a progesterone-only birth control pill following a pregnancy termination, and within about 3 months I was having breakthrough bleeding/ovulation, was in a ton of pain, and developed ovarian cysts. I went to see my gyno and she told me that my body was low on estrogen which was likely causing all the issues, so she switched my prescription to an estrogen + progesterone pill. It’s now been about 5 months since I made the switch, and while a lot of my other symptoms have gotten better, I’ve easily gained at least 15-20 pounds and can’t seem to lose any weight regardless of what I try, and I’m honestly kind of scared that I’ll just keep gaining weight as long as I’m on this pill. I know gaining weight isn’t the end of the world, but I am mainly concerned because I’ve never gained weight this rapidly before and the only thing that’s different in my routine is the medication. I’m 32 years old and have considered getting off birth control all together since my partner and I would like to have kids within the next year or two, but until then, any tips for helping to naturally balance hormones to help make weight loss a little easier while I’m still taking birth control?
