Two year old and talking

rosemary

Okay so my little girl just turned two a couple days ago and I’m worried about her not really being able to understand or comprehend how to repeat me when I say small words to her. She will say yes, no, mama, daddy, please, papa, see, ya ya, hi, bye, guys, and thank you. Even with some of those words they sound nothing like they are supposed to. When I try to get her to repeat some words back to me she doesn’t know how to sound it out right, like if I say the word LOVE to her she will say something like SEE or compete gibberish. She talks a lot but just not real words or anything.

She also is still stuck on just grunting and pointing at what she wants. Should I look into speech therapy yet or is this normal for a two year old?

A little backstory my husband had a speech impediment when he was younger but he would talk, our daughter doesn’t. He doesn’t have it anymore though so she wouldn’t be learning it from him.
