How old were you when you got married? 💍

Called off our engagement almost 2 months ago (mentally and emotionally been detached 5 months beforehand) It was the best decision I could’ve made for myself as I kept lying that I was overthinking things but had a gut feeling that wouldn’t go away. However I am sad at the same time that I’m now not getting married anymore. I’ll be 27 in a  couple months and I know there isn’t a specific timeframe of when you should get married but everyone I know who’s younger or the same age has already found the love of their life and settled. I’m at a point in my life I want to settle down and have a life partner to do things with. I’ve already graduated college, traveled, found new hobbies, have my own place, etc. I feel sooo behind and everyone else is like 10 steps ahead. I try not to compare myself to others but it stings at times. I hate the thought of having to start alllll over again but I know in order to eventually try again that’s how it works lol.

I felt just like you.. all my friends were settled in 10 year plus relationships and having babies and there was me, 28 and single as hell. Then I finally met my husband at 29, he’s my absolute soul mate and best friend, we quickly married and had a baby and second is on the way and those people in long term relationships have now broken up because they realised they didn’t love each other so it just goes to show that meeting young and staying together for the sake of it isn’t the right move either. I got married at 21. My husband didn't even meet me until he was 27, it's definitely not too late for you! I know it's not exactly the same, but I had a timeline for when I wanted to have babies, and that went to crap but it was the best thing for both me and my husband. I can look back and see that things not going according to the plan I wanted made my relationship stronger and allowed me time to grow and better myself.

In due time you will find the right one and it is totally worth the wait. I didn’t even meet my husband until I was 31, married at 32, kids at 34 and 37. I am 37 now and have several friends that haven’t found the one and aren’t married. And for some reason we can’t explain my husband and I didn’t meet until the right time, despite our best friends dating each other for 6 years, we didn’t meet until their wedding but we have been together even since.

I was 26 when I got married we have 3 kids together been together 9 years in march only 2 years married this October but most of my friends are either single or been in long term relationships with kids but aren’t married. I’m literally the only married but some of them have been in a relationship longer than me, my neighbour had 2 kids with the same person but are no longer together, she is now in a new relationship which is toxic as hell you can hear them arguing every night mostly, then your see her post on what’s app I love him with some sort of food his done or made her, but there in the street his trying to leave she’s sobbing shouting to him, she’s settling because she’s 32 she thinks she won’t find anyone else but they don’t want the same she wants a baby by him he has 3 kids with another women, they both flirt with different people argue about it then next day all happy again 🤦🏻‍♀️ then back to arguing again, don’t settle for less!

I got married at 19 and broke up at 23 and now I’m 24 and in the process of divorce lol. I felt like I was on track and then we grew apart. I feel like I’m steps behind and it’s embarrassing. I’m glad I have my son but man single mom life is not what I wanted. Definitely waiting is better than settling.
