After sex do you...?

Question

Now this may be a little weird, but after my husband and I have sex I get up to clean myself. 
​Now my question is since we are trying to conceive, am I supposed to stay laying down, on my head (my mother told me to do this), ect... Or is it okay to get up and use the bathroom?
​We have been trying for a few years and I'm not sure if this is the problem or something else, I have heard people say different things about this but am just not sure?

During my HSG it took prob 5 mins for the imaging fluid to fill up my tubes and reach the ovaries.  I'm not certain of the physics between the different injections of fluid ;) but I'm guessing it would take sperm about the same amount on time.

The Dr asked me to roll over to each side, I wish I knew if that was for imaging purposes or fluid migration.

Either way, I try to stay horizontal for a while, seems like more stays put when I wait a while before getting up.

I think it works, I have read before it increases the chances by 30%, they even sell pillows that are firm that are a triangle specifically for doing this.

I loves this question! I wondered what others did too. Doc told me to prop my butt on a pillow, lay down and lift my up legs up for about 10 minutes. Not sure if it works, I'm desperate so I do it

I asked my obgyn and she told me it's better to lay down at least for a little. She said semen can drip out if you stand up right away. I usually lay try to lay down for at least 15-20 min

I was the same as you Kendra. After sex I would lie down with hips elevated on a pillow for up to 20mins. Not sure if it helped or not but we got pregnant out 3rd month of trying.

Um the sperm that comes out does not mean they or dead or bad lol. But I did conceive my child by laying with my hip elevated took me 3 months to get preggers doing that.

My husband and I use soft cups (Insteads - they can be found in the feminine hygiene aisle at the grocery store). I too was the person to clean up right away but after 5 months of trying and nothing, we decided to change it up. I miscarried last cycle at 5 weeks, so I don't know if that was the difference or just coincidence.

I don't. I get up and clean up. The good Sperm are where they need to be. What comes out is basically the bad or dead ones.

So I also thought about this. I too always got right up to go to the bathroom (to avoid a uti) and to clean up.. Since ttc I have started to stay laying down for about 10 mins after. I'm not actually sure it matters since I have also heard that the sperm get where they need to go within seconds but I figure it can't hurt! I also felt like (sorry tmi) a lot of semen was coming out of me when I got up right away and thought maybe more would "stay put" if I didn't get up right away. Whether it works or not I'm not sure but it makes me feel better to at least try :)
