Testing when you start fertility treat??

Question

We've been ttc for 2 years now with no luck. And we're in the process of starting fertility treatment. Our first apt is later this month. So far I've seen 2 gynos and a naturopath. I've had some bloods done for hormones like the day 2 and day 21 tests. I've also had my thyroid and a few other things tested. My BF has had a few SAs done and will have another before we go back to the dr. His SA came back normal with slower swimmers. Mine came back all good except very low progesterone. I've also had a laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and D&C in June 2013 to remove endo, check my tubes and just check everything out. The results were; endo & cyst on my ovary was removed, my tubes are clear, I was diagnosed with adenomyosis and the surface of my uterus isn't smooth like it should be (possibly due to the adeno) I've tried to do some google research and educate myself a bit before I go to the dr, but to be honest I'm not to sure where to starts. So I'm after some info or advice on things to ask the dr about when we go for our first appointment with a fertility specialist in a few weeks. So any advice or previous experiences would be great.

Thank you for your advice. I really want them to do heaps of tests to make sure I've got plenty of eggs, that they're good quality etc because I don't want to get another 6 months down the road and find out something else is wrong.

They will run you thru a battery of tests and it is hard to say no. I say start now and start simple. IUI for 2 to 3 cycles is what I did. Not as invasive. Not as many drugs. Have them monitor you to make sure you really are ovulating. :-)

Whoops I didn't mean to post that.

I'm not sure what the FS is going to recommend by try naturally longer without medical intervention isn't an option. As far as I'm concerned 2 years is more than long enough.

I just had an apt with my naturopath and she's suggesting tests on my eggs because she suspects I have low egg count due to my hormone levels. She's also suggesting I need testing on the uterine lining as she suspects it's not thick or healthy enough. So I'll take this advice and see what the FS suggests. So if you've got anything else I should talk with the FS that would be great.

Nothing yet. In June 2013 gyno said to come back in Jan 2014 if we weren't preg, so to give it 6 months more of ttc naturally. In that time I took vitex but it didn't work. My gyno didn't say what the next step would be, just that we'd talk about it if I needed it. I wasn't happy with my old dr so I'm going to a knew one that's an actual fertility specialist who has a background in endo.

From what I read I've thought IUI might be worth a go with clomid or something like that. But that's based on my google self diagnosis. I've had limited testing and not sure

Well, frankly I think you already know a lot.

​The next question is - IUI or IVF or keep trying naturally.

​I think it might make sense to try an IUI cycle - especially give the slow swimmers.
