I don't know if it helps ttc, but I do know that your baby's neural tube develops at 5 weeks and folic acid is critical during this time (and throughout your pregnancy, but it directly impacts neuro development. I also read that your body needs a 3 month build up of folic acid.

I think it's wise for your own health, and the healthier you are the healthier your baby will be. Ditto too on having enough folic acid in the first few weeks of pregnancy.
