My Period, So weird!!

So I started taking my birth control again Sunday night, (I had stopped taking it due to not having sex at all and I was gaining weight) , then started my period Monday morning, well all of Monday it was fine, but today I am bleeding outrageously I can't keep a super plus tampon in over 30 minutes. I don't know if this has something to so with my birth control but I have had to change my underwear 3 times even bleeding through pany liners, and I've went through almost a whole box of tampons just today. Any one know what the cause is? Or what to do?
