Why only 2 u/s?

I went to the dr. yesterday bc I had some concerns. I literally begged her to do an u/s on me & she agreed although my first u/s was scheduled for 4/21. The u/s tech told me she was going to cancel my u/s on 4/21 which kind of made me sad! I asked when I would come back & she said around 20 weeks!!!! Wth why do we only get 2! How else do they make sure the baby is okay? I don't like this :( can I request more?

My first was at 4 weeks just to check it actually was a baby!! My dating scan I had at 9 weeks and your meant to have one to check for any disorders like defects, or Down syndrome at 12 weeks, I didn't do that one as it was $120 and I was only 19. I had another at 18 weeks I was meant to have one more before bub came but my son was born at 27 weeks so got to see him in real life before that one!

My technician said the next one is usually around 18 weeks to determine the sex of the baby but i will request at least one more before that, not sure if i can get it, but i will try.
​I have a friend who is 18 weeks now and they already did 3 ultrasounds for her, everything is fine, no concerns, just her doctor told her to, so i guess it depends on the doctor.
​Ask your doctor but try not to worry much about it, happy mom happy baby :)
