Break outs!

Ive stopped taking my birth control about 5 months ago and recently (within the last month or so) have had serious break outs! I am 21 and during high school and puberty I have never experienced anything like this. WHAT IS GOING ON?! It's so embarrassing and I barely wear makeup anymore to avoid clogging my pores up. Anyone else experiencing this later in age or is it just me?!
