Anyone have experience with Depo?

Considering going on birth control at the moment and I think I'm either going with the Depo shot or bc pill. I'm in college with limited funds and transportation, which is why I'm leaning towards the shot. Anyone have experience with cost, side effects, efficiency, etc? Thanks!

I was on depo for a couple years while I traveled. I was only on it because of the easy factor then. The cost was about $90.00 every 3 months. I'm sure your insurance might pick some of that up. The side affects can vary depending on the person. I experienced weight gain, mood changes, and acne. I personally think that the pill is easier on your body in the long run. There are less side affects. Please make sure to consult with your doctor before making any big decisions. If you are not good at remembering to take pills at the same time everyday then the depo shot may be the best option. I hope this may help you. :)

I as well gained a lot of weight. But it went to all the right places.  I'm an athlete and work out regularly. My period went away, and my acne cleared. I wanted to get off though because I did eventually want kids, I ended up back on the pill, a year or so after my last shot

Got the depo shot right after I had my son, had two rounds of it(so 6 months). I was always bleeding! Not sure if this is a common reaction to it or not but I wouldn't recommend it.

I had problems with depo as well. The side effects were horrible for me. I only had two shots but it stays in your system for a very long time.

Depo shot is good . I have been taking the shot for 2 years . But it makes you gain lots of wait . The hormones in the shit is to make your body think your pregnant. You have to control your eating yourself

Back in 07' I was receiving the depo for about a year and didn't get my period not once the entire year I was on it, the side effects were so bad that I couldn't handle getting the shots anymore. A few months being off of it, I finally got my period but had it non stop for 6 months straight, went to the doctor concerned about it and they informed me that the depo decreased my chances of ever conceiving. 2013 my periods have finally gotten on track and seem to be as regular as they can be.. Please be cautious using this birth control option, everyone reacts different to it but it has been a terrible experience for me.

I got the depo and I regretted it. It made me gain 30lbs. I now take the pills and I enjoy not having that extra weight gain. I've been thin my whole life.
