Experiences with IUD?

Question

Im considering an IUD but heard they were painful when you ovulate, and you can feel it move inside you during intercourse. What's your personal experience?

I had the IUD, actually became pregnant on it although they say its 99.8% affective. I took it out as soon as i became pregnant. All birth control methods aren't 100% affevtice. It caused me discomfort. I had it removed, it made my cycle last 2 weeks. Just be sure about what you want.

I had the mirena before we dedcided to start having children. It was painful to put n but I took some
​Meds to help so I barely felt it. I was sore for a day or two. Never had a period til I got it removed. Wud b a little moody and hav some acne around normal period times tho. My husband did feel the strings a few times so I got it trimmed at my next visit. Had a little trouble getting it out tho so they gave me meds and I didn't feel a things. Had a miscarriage a few months later then got pregnant with my son 6 months later. Don't know if iud had anything to do with pregnancy or not. Just my experience.

I had the skyla and loved it. It hardly hurt to put it in and take out. I got extremely nascious for about 1/2 hour and then was fine when they put it in. Couldn't feel it, didn't change my cramps... Only thing was my husband could feel the strings and those were painful for him depending on the position. It does mess with your cycle at first but then you eventually even out. Everyone's different though and I've heard heaps of different opinions and experiences!

I have the mirena, and it was painful to have put in but I haven't had any pain since. I love it, because it's hormones, some people don't keep getting their period which I like.

the insertion is painful and you can take a motrin before to help with that. other than that though, i'm really happy with my choice. i never have to remember anything and don't have periods anymore.

I had one and I won't get one again. It messed with my flow really bad and I went from a light flow for about 2 days to an extremely heavy flow that lasted 7 or 8 days. I could also feel it if I wore tampons and it made them very uncomfortable to have in. My husband could also feel it in certain positions. Everyone is different though and you might be one that likes having it.

I'm getting mine Wednesday so I'm interested in this too! Pretty nervous about the pain of insertion :/ I'm getting the Skyla because it's smaller for people who haven't had children and it lasts 3 years!
