When to take the pill

I'm about to start taking the pill. I just picked up my prescription today (May 1) but idk when I should start taking them. My period started on April 21st. Can anyone help me?? Thanks. By the way I am 19 years old

​I'd start taking it if you've carefully read all the directions and made sure the prescription doesn't have certain guidelines on when to start it. If the directions do not list a certain start date (after a period, while on your period, or on a certain day of the week) then you should be fine to start it when you want. I take my pill at night because it's easy for me to remember to take it before bed. Make sure that whatever time of day you choose, that you need to take it at that same time each day. So if you want to take it in the mornings, start it tomorrow morning. Good luck!

My dr just told me to start taking it when I got it. Just if your having sex still use condoms the first month cuz there's the chance it could take a bit to be effective. I also took mine at night before bed or else they upset my stomach too much.
