Sleeping With A Tampon...?

is it safe to sleep with a tampon in?? I'm so paranoid of getting TSS... but I HATE HATE HATE pads!! they gross me out it's like sitting in a pile of ur own blood... but should I sleep with one to avoid the health complications??

I agree with Virginia. Just put a new one in right before bed and take it out as soon as you wake up. I've been doing that for 15 years so I think it's safe. 
​However, I also just heard about a diva cup, and it's basically a reusable "tampon". It's not a tampon though, it's a cup that you put in your vagina and it catches the blood. You only have to "change" it every 12 hours I believe. I haven't tried it yet, but know someone who does and she swears by it.

I sleep with them in. Use. Fresh one right before you go to bed and change it first thing on the morning. Too be even more safe, set an alarm 4-6 hours into sleep to get up and change it out :)

Toxic shock syndrome is rare but there is a small risk when you wear a tampon. Minimize your TSS risk by choosing the lightest absorbancy for your menstrual flow and change your tampon at least every 4-8 hours. You can read more here:  http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000653.htm
