Chemical pregnancy question?

How do you know if you had a chemical pregnancy? I think I might have had one but I'm not sure. Has anyone had one before? And could you please explain what it really is?

Thanks everyone for the information. I went to my doctor last month and my doctor told me it was more than likely a chemical pregnancy. It sucks cause I finally had positive pregnancy test, then period late, then full on bleeding and bad cramping. Sorry to hear about everyone chemical pregnancies. I was hoping for a BFP this month but AF showed this morning. We have been ttc for 9 months now. Hopefully a BFP soon.

Ive had two that I'm aware of. Last November and last month. Awful, awful things. My husband was so excited about the pos HPK, he told his parents (who are on either side of the US), who then told people... And it all happened so fast.

Do you get bad cramping with a chemical?

I think had one of these! Been so confused until I read this post!

​Got two positives and was in shock got myself all excited, was planning things me and my partner were just blissfully happy for that week or so later and took a clearblue digital and was negative, so took like 6 more tests... All negative then af came :(

I'd so sorry, it's such a rubbish thing to happen. A chemical pregnancy is any pregnancy that results in a positive hpt but ends before 6 weeks, it's a horrible name in my opinion but it's called that because the only proof of pregnancy is chemical as opposed to a scan because before 6 weeks they wouldn't be able to see anything. Although they can now but I assume it was named before advancements in ultrasounds.
​A lot of the time the pregnancy ends around the time of your expected period so most women don't realise but  i had one in October at 5weeks 5days and was told that when it happens that early it's basically a failure to implant properly. 
​After a chemical miscarriage you are supposedly more fertile for the next few months as your body is geared for a pregnancy, I'm now 20 weeks and got my BFP in January altho I took tests every day until 7 weeks!

I got a BFP the day my period was due. I even got a positive from the doc but low hcg levels. A week after AF was due I started bleeding like a lighter than normal period.. Doc took my blood levels and hcg dropped :(

​I should mention that I continued to do home tests because I was in shock that I was preggo at all. But the lines never got darker..that should have been my first clue.

​Doc told me to wait a cycle but the nurse practicioner said I could ttc as soon as I wanted because my levels were really low (only 19.25) so I'm going with that advice lol

I've had one :-( I was a couple of days late for my period so took a test and it was positive, then a couple of days later my period started so I took another test and was negative, a lot of women have them an don't even know about it xx
