Clomid: does it make you ovulate sooner if you already ovulate?

If you already ovulate, does clomid make you ovulate earlier in your cycle?

​My doctors say I might have a luteal defect because my # of days between ovulation and my next menstruation cycle is too short, so there's not enough time for an embryo to implant. Instead of giving me progesterone, my doctors are giving me clomid to take days 5-9. Anyone else out there been treated for a luteal defect with clomid? I can't find info anywhere that it actually helps to lengthen luteal phase.

I have the same thing. My doc put me on clomid and then progesterone for after I ovulate. I've read a lot about it and some docs think you just need the clomid without the progesterone supplementation. But clomid is definitely the first line treatment for it.

I ovulated on day 10 my first Clomid cycle, then on day 13, now waiting to see what day I ovulate this month.

I think the theory is that it helps you ovulate stronger, and then your body will produce more progesterone on its own. I've read on people's posts here before that had clomid prescribed to them for the same reason. Are they going to do blood tests after you ovulate to check your progesterone levels?
