Taboo Tuesdays - MEN!

It might be surprising to hear that almost 40% of infertility is attributed to men - because fertility is very much considered a "women's issue". After all, we are the ones on here charting our BBTs, CMs, and peeing on sticks - morning, noon and night. We are the ones who watch our diet, and cut out foods that are less than fertility friendly. We exercise. We see doctors. We worry.

What about our men? Sure - there are the few totally involved ones who realize that this process is 50/50. But a vast majority, their job begins and ends in the bedroom. Some even bristle at the suggestion that there could be a problem with their sperm - as if having a decreased sperm count makes them less masculine somehow.

But exercise and nutrition are incredible important factors in healthy sperm generation. When you are trying to conceive, your guy should probably be giving up just as much - if not more - types of foods than you: Bye-bye, hot dogs. So long, bacon. And put down that beer.

Their body temperatures matter too. Fevers, for example, kill sperm. Hot tubs are a big no-no. Even resting their lap-tops on their laps could be detrimental.

Does your guy know all this? Was he interested to learn on his own? Or did you have to tell him?

Do you feel that trying to conceive falls on your shoulders - or that it's a joint responsibility? And if so - why?
