Implantation/Spotting

This is the 2nd month my husband and I started trying... I am 11-12 dpo and today I had cramps and thought it was AF coming because it is due in the next few days. However it has been much lighter and it is brownish/ light reddish... Is this implantation? I want to take a test but I am afraid it may still be too early... Any advice please? This would be our first pregnancy so I am new to this!!
