BBT temp help!

Ive been taking opk's daily but I would like to start taking my tempature every morning before I get out of bed to be more accurate- my only problem is I don't understand what the change is temp means. Will my temperature go up or down before ovulation or during ovulation? When I see people's charts that they post it just looks like squiggly lines..help me please :)
