I have had some good experiences and some bad experiences with anal, aI would say to make sure that you are completely relaxed. That means LOADS of foreplay (or vaginal sex if you want) beforehand to make sure your muscles down there are calm and good to go! Also the alcohol does help as well! Always make sure to use lube, and if you can you can buy an anal plug to ease into it before your partner goes in. Make sure he goes in shallow strokes at first. Most importantly is communication - if it feels good communicate that or if you want him to stop communicate that - both physically and verbally.

You definitely have to loosen up and relax. You have to relax! I love anal but I sometimes have those times that I can't handle it. Also best advice is get a little frisky! It always feels amazing to me when we are being rough, it hurts if I'm really thinking about it.  But try not to use a ton of lube else it will slip right in and you won't enjoy it. Don't be scared. Ok so when you do anal... It's not just something you can dive into like regular sex. You HAVE to ease into it.. It's a process.. First make sure you have gone #2 that day and are emptied out.. Second lubeeee!!!! Lotssss of lube!! They also make anal numbing cream that you may want to look into.  Third, get an anal toy. They make anal starter toys that are smaller and get bigger.. You have to basically stretch your hole out a little or it will hurt like hell!!! 
​It can be very enjoyable but you have to do it the right way or you will be turned off from it forever.
