Is it a nationality thing?

So I was visiting my mother this week, and since she has no idea how difficult it has been to be TTC after a MC, I decided to lovingly talk to her and pour out my feelings to her so she could understand how I am feeling (She basically thinks that because I am Hispanic and a young, healthy woman that I should have no problem). She understood how I felt, but then added that it's because I am American, and that because of the foods we eat and what we are exposed to, it makes sense that I am having a hard time getting pregnant right away, and that women in other countries are popping out kids like crazy.

​At first, this made me want to pack up and move anywhere else, but then, I thought about this forum and how there are many women from all around the world with infertillity issues (Don't get me wrong, I love my country, but I am also a world peace, "I love all nations" kind of girl). Is there any truth to this? What do you guys think?

I'm guessing in a lot of these other countries infertility is also a taboo topic. How many women in other countries would openly discuss their difficulty TTC? It would be interesting to look at stats from each area to compare...

I think it's because many foreign women (USA,Canada,Europe,Australia) use a lot of birth control?

​Where I come from we have only birth control pills & these are also rarely used because women don't have sex before marriage & usually after marriage they want to have children.

​women here have a lot of children & the bigger the family,the better to them.

​I have 5 other siblings,mom has 9,dad has 8! I want to have 4 lol

​I think one of the reasons that I don't have an issue getting pregnant is that I eat very healthy (Vegan) & I never used any birth control.

​So yes I do think it's a nationality thing Because my local friends have many children,while my foreign ones have to try much harder,which again I think it's because of birth control.

I am 34, healthy, and Argentine, having lived in the States from 1999 till 2010. I can tell you one thing: you can eat just as well and fresh in any country, it's not that difficult. My friends in the States and in Argentina are popping babies left and right! But what makes the difference? Health care. I have a GREAT health plan in Argentina, which covers any exam that my Dr wants. I have a primary care doctor that orders annual tests. That's how, after months of TTC, i figured out that I was ovulating late, plus my TSH levels were high. So now I will hopefully sort it out without wasting time. So Get a full checkup, go to your ob-gyn to review your menstrual cycle,  ask questions, don't waste time on the internet trying to self-diagnose. You will get a head start and rule out any simple medical issues that will cause frustration down the line. Hope this helps!

I eat nearly everything organic. With so much GMO's and chemicals in and on so many foods, you can only wonder what effects it has on our bodies. I'd recommend everyone to watch "Genetic Roullette" documentary. It's VERY good. It covers a part on infertility rates going up and up. I def believe part of it is staying away from processed foods and trying to eat organic whenever possible. I hope you conceive soon!!

I Think is not the food or anything like that. Mostly I blame the birth control patch, pill etc. that is not something normal and those hormones stay a while in our bodies.

I don't agree that it's specifically about the US, issues include, women having babies later, and maybe women in US are more open about talking about infertility unlike most cultures where the woman is alienated for not being able to do what she was supposedly born to do (procreate)

It's not where ur from or where u live it's how u treat ur body, I come from Barbados and from a big family, my great gma had 23 kids, gma had 10 my brothers have 7 and counting I'm the only one that actually has 1 child could of have more but kept having miscarriages but as I got older I realize it's how we treat our bodies and how we handle everyday stress.. Just continue to eat healthy n stay stress free, baby dust✨

It's not so much nationality as it is style of living I think. I'm having trouble TTC and I'm half French and the French side of my family has definitly had no issues and the American side haven't either. But you diet and overall well being play a BIG role your diet especially and even your mental state play a large role. So eat health and exercise and avoid being stress. American is known for their unhealthy lifestyle though

I'm white British (Also irish and French descent). Eat healthily - mostly cook meals from scratch. Have probably eaten about 5 (pasta based) ready meals in my life. Rarely get takeaway food. Never eat fast food. I eat plenty of veg daily. Live in a rural small town. Ttc #1 for 15 months.
