Hysterosalpingogram?

Anyone ever had a Hysterosalpingogram done? Does it hurt? the Dr's r having me have it done cuz I haven't got preg yet.

I had one and while uncomfortable it was nothing worse then a Pap smear, though I had a lovely Dr. I was given a rectal suppository I had to insert an hour before which was for pain relief. They also have me antibiotics to take before and after...

It really depends on the doctor administering the test. Mine was a male radiologist who had no bedside manner. He pushed the dye too fast and it hurt quite a bit. Afterwards, I had a hard time walking to the car. Good thing my husband went with me. I could not have driven myself home after. If your doctor is good/ experienced, it will likely be not so bad. There will be minor discomfort so you should consider taking some aspirin or ibuprofen about half an hour before.

Well I had mine done 2 weeks ago, I'm not going to lie to you, for me it hurt really bad when the dye was being injected, but I believe it's because my left tube was partially blocked. It really depends on the person and if you have a tube blocked. I honestly believe that that's when you have the most pain. I took ibuprofen beforehand and I don't think it did me any good, I'm not trying to freak you out, I'm just trying to prepare you. I had the nurse hold my hand and that was very comforting. I think the whole test lasted no more than 10 min, I mean getting the tubes in and doing the actual test. Good luck.

No it doesn't. It's extremely quick less than 3 min.
