Chronic Pain and Periods
I have chronic pain, a double dose actually. I have Fibromyalgia and Lupus affecting my joints.
In case you don't know what these are:
Fibro causes chronic nerve pain in several points of my body, some days my scalp hurts too bad to brush my hair, my thighs hurt too much for my fiancé to rest his hand on my leg when he sits next to me, and my ribs hurts too much to wear anything that touches it, the pain kind if jumps around most days and sometimes it's everywhere.
Lupus is an autoimmune disease which means my body attacks itself. I'm lucky enough to not have it seriously compromise my health and attack my organs, but at this point it is doing a doozy on my joints. They swell, they hurt, they are arthritic and I'm only 23.
Both cause chronic fatigue, actually unbearable fatigue. And both make a normal sex life nearly impossible.
But the worst part is my cycle. It seems that my fibro flares up the week leading up to my period, with intense pain everywhere. And then once my period is over, I seem to have a lupus flare up. The lupus flares can last any were from 2 days to 2 weeks.
I'm so tired of having such little time in between the pain. It's an unbearable cycle, and I have had no help with medication.
I know I'm not the only chronic pain sufferer out there dealing with this.
