Taboo Tuesdays - Cervical Mucus

Gunce

When I was in high school, I remember clearly having a very uncomfortable health class where we were shown how to put a condom on a banana and how to identify the parts of the male and female reproductive systems. It took another ten years and many failed attempts at trying to concieve before I ever learned about cervical mucus. I feel like this very basic part of female health was simply never mentioned to me. Not by my school. Or mother. or even friends.

I was shocked to learn - years later - that monitoring CM can greatly increase your chances of successfully concieving. If you do nothing else - no bbt, no OPKs, nothing - and just learn to identify your best most fertile cervical mucus - you greatly increase your chances of conceiveing. (Up to 38% on your best CM day accodring to the ASRM). How are we never taught this? Is it because its "gross"? Or is there another reason?

First answer this - how many of you were taught about Cervical Mucus and its importance in determining your most fertile days in high school? And then comment on why you think that is?
