Is it possible to get your period in early pregnancy?

I am 20 years old, and in early pregnancy, approaching 11 weeks. My  first baby. My CM is heavy, which I know is to be expected and will happen while I am pregnant. My obgyn told me that my CM will probably be heavy even after I have my baby, and eventually return to normal, and that this occurs especially with young women. This morning I woke up with a small amount of blood  in my normally clear to cloudy white vaginal discharge, or CM. Kind of like spotting or when I'm just about to get my period. I don't think that there is any problem? I have little bloating, and no cramping. It just looks and feels like I am going to get my period. Is this possible? Should I see my obgyn, or call her. My next appointment with her is not until early next week.
