Late periods, BFN

I have a fairly late period every 6 months or so (last one was January, then November before that) I am usually pretty accurate, give or take. Currently my period is 8 days late, no symptoms either way. It's so frustrating and even when I tell myself I'm not going to get excited, I'm totally deflated when I finally decide to just take a test and it comes back negative. Any advice???
