Waiting for the right time?

Question

My husband and I have talked about babies for months, but it never seems like quite the right time. There's always a new job or a new house or a new something! I feel like there's never a 100% perfect time, and we should just go for it. But he wants to wait.

​I'm just worried that it's going to take forever once we do start trying.  I've been trying NOT to have a baby for so long that I just feel like karma is going to get me when I do want one! I know plenty of people conceive after birth control with no issues - I'm just nervous!

​What's your opinion? Wait for the right time? Or make it the right time when baby decides?

There is never a right time, but the nice thing about babies is they give you nine months to get your ducks in a row.

Well, I think it's best not to rush things so life changing like babies :).... But, if I would have known the time it might take my body to regulate after hormonal birth control then I would have come off the pill earlier and used a different form during that time. If you feel like you can do that I would recommend it!! I agree with lots of others who commented... I don't believe there is a right time. There will always be something that isn't just how you wish it was!! Good luck to y'all :)

I think if hubby isn't ready as hard as it is you need to wait for him to be ready. Nagging him or pushing him to do it when he's not ready will make the process less enjoyable for him and then less enjoyable for you as well. It can be a stressful thing TTC and if one of you is not into it or ready for it it only will add even more stress to the process. Just give it time. When the time is right he will be ready. My hubby needed a good 8 months to think about it and let it set in for him before he was ready. And now he's all in and talks all the time about how he can't wait to be a dad! It definitely helps me stress less when he is excited for what our future could hold. I'm glad we waited. :) good luck to you!! :)

There really is never a good time. However the best situation would be for you and your partner to both be ready. He will come around. My DH just needed a little more time than me, but the day he said he was ready he was all in!

There is never the perfect time, but it would be better probably for your relationship with your dh to be on the same page before you start trying. I had a similar situation with my dh, and we waited til we were 30 to start trying for #2. Now Im almost 32 and its taking way longer than I ever thought it would so i wish we would have started the conversation a lot sooner!

I know you ladies are right. I think maybe he's not quite as ready as he says he is, so saying it's not the right time is giving HIM some extra time. I can wait I suppose! I'm just excited! Thanks for the advice :)

I feel the same way! We have a house, dog, good jobs and savings.  I want to start trying asap but my husband seems to need time to "get used to the idea" even though we've been talking about it since last Christmas!! I guess it was just a thought at that point but now that we're at the point in time we talked about starting TTC it's like he has to get used to it again. It's frustrating that he seemed to be on board but pulled out when we BD today. It's getting hard to be patient... :(

My husband and I were in the same situation. But in Janurary we started ttc after 7+ years on bc, unfortunatly no luck yet. We started trying AFTER 2 1/2 years of marriage, 5 1/2 years actually together, & 1 year of owning a home. I think this is the perfect time for us, and whenever god blesses us we will be thrilled. ? We waited for all the buying & newness to ware off. Everything will work out for you guys how it's supposed to. Good luck! ✨

normally I'd say when baby decides but with dh not being ready it could cause tension.  tough call
