High hcg level spike mean twins?

Question

Anyone have a big hcg level spike? At  3 weeks and 1 day it was 78. At 4 weeks and 1 day it was 2445! My ob says she is surprised by the numbers. She will check for twins on Aug 5th when I'm 7 weeks. Anyone else have such a big rise in a short amount of time?

My hcg level at 4 weeks was 545. At 4 weeks and 2 days is was 2580. And at 5 weeks it was 13582. I am now 9 weeks pregnant with TWINS!!!! :) They both have strong healthy heartbeats.

Everyone's numbers can really vary! They are supposed to double every other day so over a period of a week there should be a dramatic rise. I did notice my levels were higher this time around than when I had my son. The doctor found twins at around 7 weeks! Good luck to you! Check out the website called beta base--it gives you normal hormone ranges for single and multiple pregnancies--pretty interesting!!!

Just to follow up.... week 5 my hcg was 16,000. I was sure it was twins. After a u/s at 8 weeks it confirmed just one big baby! I was also a week ahead. I have no idea how that happened. I know when my period was so I guess I ovulated right after. Weird, but anywho all is good!

What an interesting site! So I was 20 dpo for my last test. According to the site median twin rate at that day is 2298 and mine was 2445.​

I've only had my hcg tested twice.. 
​At 4 weeks it was 51 and then at 5 weeks it was 796.. 
​I'm now 10 weeks with twins.. My levels were pretty low. But I have two healthy babies growing with two strong heartbeats.
