When is it a good time to let your boss know your pregnant?

I plan to tell mine after the 12th week or so. I miscarried at 14 weeks last year and although I feel good about this pregnancy, I'm much more cautious to predict its outcome.

I had a challenging situation in which I was offered a training period for a significant promotion and I've had to turn it down based on this pregnancy (I hope to stay home with the baby after its born) without telling my employer I'm pregnant. I simply told him I was planning to start a family soon (within the next few months) and I wasn't the long-term candidate he was looking for. Such a downer.

This pregnancy wasn't planned, but is very much wanted. In many ways it's great timing, but in others, like this, its a line in the sand.

Anyone else experiencing something like this?

I think it depends on your job, I'm a nurse so I told my nurse manager right away just in case we had certain types of pts come in.
