Not at all. I've been on birth control since I was 15 for period problems (am now 17) and I've never had a problem. It's helped with cramps, acne, even hormones at times. Not bad at all

Prolonged use of nearly any medication isn't great for your health. I used the pill for approximately 12 years.  During the last few years, I began having horrible migraines.  Getting off of the pill and changing to non-hormonal contraceptive was the solution.

Medically speaking, birth control can mask a more serious condition by fixing the symptoms as opposed to the problem. They can also lead to infertility if used for a long time. My suggestion: use a non hormonal, or mostly progesterone based pill or device. Estrogen increases weight gain, risks of breast and endometrial cancer, and blood clots. Talk to your doctor about what is best for you. My doctor told me that it would be bad for me to take hormonal contraceptives.
