Marry... Yes or No? Thoughts please!!

Question

My boyfriend and I have been together for about 6 months, but we are absolutely in love. It's like we clicked instantly and we can't see our futures apart from each other. The only difficult part of our relationship is that I am 18 and he is 31. It's not difficult for either one of us, but everyone else thinks we are crazy. Since we don't care about any one else's opinion we talked about eloping.. What are your thoughts? Help!!

Some of the best advice I heard one was just because you know you want to marry someone doesn't mean you're ready to be a wife. Make sure you truly know him and are ready for the committement! Marriage isn't all blissful, it is really hard. But it's also something amazing. But it's really your decision

I was in the same boat. In the end I always look at it this way, if he loves u now he will love u three four five years from now. So no harm in waiting :)

That is not long enough To know someone enough to make that commitment. My mom and and her ex husband were together 6 months and married after 8 months and lasted 2 years. He was a lot older. And ended up being very abusive. Which if course didn't come out until we moved in with him and they were married.

​It's your life and you're going to do what you want. But there's not point in rushing marriage. If you all are in love the way you say, then the feelings will be the same in a year or so.

I would suggest waiting longer. Six months is not a whole lot of time to get to know each other

Why would you care about other peoples thoughts if you're in love? Your of age so it's your choice. With that being said, I do think couples should be together for a year or more before betting married because any less I don't see how you can really know the person 100%. There are a lot of ups and downs to people, especially when you live with them. Why rush? You could get engaged and spend 6 months planning the wedding, etc before hand. But like I said, I don't know you two nor your relationship so do what you think is best.

I think if you have to ask someone's opinion on if you should get married or not, you shouldn't do it. At least not right now. If you love each other today, you will love each other a year or two from now. Marriage is hard work, and you learn a lot about someone. And sometimes it's things you don't like, try to learn those things before you sign your name on a piece of paper.

Science and psychology has proved there is a chemical reaction called the "honeymoon phase" that typically lasts 2-3 years. In every relationship I have been in I found this true, even with my husband of two years. I was so glad we dates for two years till I could realize what it's like to get annoyed with him. And realize I stilled loved him through all those little pet peeves. It's important to let the magic settle and see what a day pf routine after years of being together would feel like.

You are young! Not saying you don't know your self yet. Yes, I am! I changed so much between 18-21, then again by the time I was 25. I don't feel like I became who I am today till I was 28 or so. If he loves you now that is great! But you could be someone so different in three, five, ten years. Get married if you want. But wait to have children. Make sure if he is who you want to be the father of you children. That is just one big opinion that can change over time.
