Help - Ovulation early

Hey ladies! I hope your all having a wonderful day!! :) I have a quick question and need some help understanding. I came off BC in May and we are TTC #1. My cycles have been 42 or 43 days. Last cycle I was using a opk and it gave me the happy face on cd12 and I had the egg white mucus on cd12 & 13. I thought that once you ovulate you should get your period around 14 days later. Not the case for me. I got it 30 days later. What's up with that?
