NT (nuchal translucency) scan?

I had my ob intake appointment yesterday, at which they presented me with tons of information about my screening options as I progress. I'm 6w today so I have a bit of time, but the first thing I need to decide is if I want the NT scan. Does anyone have experience with this? Are you going to do it?

The only optional tests we did was the sequential blood draws and the NT US. It is harmless. It was a nice reassurance to know there were no obvious abnormalities in  baby's development. Most people think of it as testing for Down's syndrome but it actually tests for multiple other chromosomal defects that may need immediate intervention at birth.

In addition to what the others have said they see a lot of the anatomy clearly during the NT. The heart valves, organs, bone structure. You also get great u/s photos during that test. They use a much better u/s machine.

I did the first and second trimester NT test first was a blood test followed by an ultrasound and second was just a blood test .. My results where 1 in 45,000 for DS And 1 in 100,00 ( something close to those numbers I don't have exact ) for chrom. Abnormalities ..

I had the nuchal scan at 12 weeks and can honestly say it was such an overwhelming and amazing experience. The docs check your baby is developing properly plus you get to see your baby for the first time. Good luck!

They just measure the fat round baby s neck via u/s plus take a small amount of blood from finger for testing
