Ultrasound scan?

Im 5weeks and 3days pregnant and i was told bu the doctor i would have to wait till between 8 and 10 weeks to meet my midwife and get a blood test etc, then i wont have a scan till 12 weeks, is this normal? Ive seen a lot of woman on here getting scans at like 6 weeks and i thought doctors were supposed to do a blood test to confirm pregnancy and check hcg levels are normal?

I'm the exact same as you! 5+3. I'm seeing my doctor for the first time today so I'll let you know what she says.

​Every country is different as is every woman's history. If you're from the uk, as it's on the NHS they don't tend to do them as often or as early.

I'm in Australia and go to doctor as soon as you get your BFP and they'll do a urine & blood test (for pregnancy & for your hormone levels, STI's, etc) then you go back and get your results then schedule a 7week scan (no earlier as standard for a normal pregnancy) then goes from there.

I'm like you as well! I saw the Dr today thinking I was only 3w6d and found out otherwise. I got my first scan today. Feeling very positive about this time around. I had MC early this year and again last year.

That's actually completely normal
​. A lot of us are having early ultrasounds due to being "high risk" , on fertility medications , age , or threats of possible miscarriages . So it's quite normal if this is your first and you are healthy with no issues to usually only have two . Around 8-9 weeks then the anatomy scan around 20. With the option of one around 12 weeks to check for genetic disorders . That's pretty standard in the USA anyways . I'm

Usually the doctor orders a sooner checkup/ultrasound if mommy is having some issues, such as pains, or if they've had a miscarriage or high risk pregnancy before. It's normal to wait until you're about 8 weeks as most centers won't see you until you're at least that far along unless something is wrong. Like, for me, my first appointment was scheduled for when I'm 8 weeks but I had to go earlier because I was having sharp pains in my stomach and had a miscarriage before so they wanted to be extra careful and check it out. It's a good thing that you don't have to go early for an emergency! ?

I don't go in until ten weeks for confirmation and blood test appointment. My first ultrasound is a week later at eleven weeks. It's normal around my area unless u had complications in the past.
