What do I expect at my 12 weeks scan?

This is my first baby and I have my 12 week scan tomorrow. Was just wondering what tests and questions will be asked? Thanks :)

You'll probably  have a scan that will measure the nuchal fold which is on the back of the baby's neck. Her/ his heartbeat will be measured and you may have some blood tests too. That's if the scan you're talking about is the one to check for three of the more common chromosone abnormalities- trisomy 13, 18 and 21(Down's syndrome). You'll be given your results with a level of risk rather than a diagnosis. E.g your baby has a 1 in 1500 chance of having trisomy 13 etc (I just made up that number, it's not a 'normal' number or anything). Best of luck and enjoy seeing your little one!
