When does birth control start working?

So I freaked my SO and myself out. I thought 1-2 months it should start working but I've heard 7 days and 3 months. When is it safe to not get pregnant?

Take a look at the birth control information leaflet with your pills (usually inside the box). It gives timelines for when you're definitely protected etc. it's generally one full cycle/month of pills.

Its usually at least one full cycle so you should use backup birth control for the first month. Some pills may vary though so I would ask your pharmacist they will have a clear answer.
