Morning sickness tips
I've been suffering from severe morning sickness (throwing up 10-15 times a day) for awhile. I've picked up a few random tips that might help someone.
I was prescribed Zofran and found out even my super insurance plan only covered a fee pills a month. So here's how I got around it. Check with your local grocer or pharmacy for a health saver plan. Here we have Hannafords and their plan is $8 a year. My prescription went from $400 to $14 and some Meds are $4. Here's the trick you must get the generic version of the medication as listed. For example if capsules are on the saver list, but you are prescribed tablets it won't be covered. I stopped taking Zofran, because the constipation was so bad. I have heard that 2 kiwis a day keeps Zofran constipation away though!
There is another ms med called Diclegis, but it is expensive and not usually covered by insurance. My doc said it's the same as taking B6 and Unisom. It will knock you out, but you'll wake up feeling better. I haven't tried it yet.
She also suggest blue or yellow Gatorade for relief. Blue did nothing for me , but yellow really relieved the nausea. So has boiling slices of ginger root and drinking the water.
The yellow gatorade and ginger tea have cut my vomiting way back. I threw up twice yesterday and once today. 8 weeks is when hormones are peaking and so far I feel better. I know it won't work for everyone, but hopefully these tips can help one person.
