Can it be family physician , OB, or does it have to be a fertility specialist? Experiences please .

My OB wouldn't give me anything. She referred me to a RE to get clomid/letrozole.

My OB prescibed me Clomid but then we were referred to a fertility specialist pretty much right away so both me and my husband could get further workup.

Your Ob-gyn can. But a fertility specialist is really necessary if you want anything stronger than clomid.
