Late periods

I need some advice. My teen daughter's period is almost two months late. As a mom, I immediately think the worst but she swears she hasn't  had sex and even said she'd take a hpt to prove it. How normal is this? Anyone have experience with this? Should I text her? Help....

As a *non active* teen, when my period is late I always freak out and think I'm the next Virgin Mary lol! Even if it's summer, it can still be stressful, as so many things are changing and people are all weird and everything is either cool or stupid! A girls period won't normally even out until they have had it for 4-5 years (if you need some advice or if she wants a place to look for advice scarleteen.com is great for me!)

I've been menstrating for 11 years now and have never had a regular cycle. I've gone up to a year without a period. I could have it a few months in a row usually then skip a month or 4 months. I believe it's just a hormone imbalance so I'm not too worried. Never had any health problems except for that and I'm not one to complain about a skipped period lol. I'm sure your daughter will be fine unless other problems rise up.

When I started my period I didn't get it for 4 months. I doubt it's anything serious.

A change in diet can affect your period too

Has she been under any stress? Stress is a main reason to delay periods especially with teenagers as those years can be stressful at times. Also changes in diet, exercise and weight can affect your period as well as being sick recently or certain medications. How long has she had her period? If not long it could still not be used to being regular.

It could be a mix of not having a period for too long and joining volleyball.

Well a year and a half isn't long so I would say it's normal. Also playing sports can affect it.

Overly strenuous. It's summer so I don't think there's much stress.
