TTC in my 30's. IUI?

I went to my fertility doctor to discuss more options today I've been TTC for 8 months with no luck. I had surgery in January to remove obstructions in my Fallopian tubes and rid of endometriosis. He gave me the option of doing an IUI. Anyone have luck with this route? Should I give it a shot?

​My hubby and I have been TTC for over 4 years and we recently did our first IUI with clomid earlier this month. The procedure itself is very quick and for most women it's painless. It was painful for me but only because my cervix was so tightly closed. Price wise, it varies upon location. My insurance doesn't cover fertility procedures and treatments so we had to pay out of pocket for it but it wasn't too expensive. Unfortunately, I tested and I got a bfn. I'm not surprised (although I was sad and disappointed) because the doctor and nurse said it's a small chance it would work the first time; it often times happens the 2nd or 3rd time. So now I'm gearing up for my 2nd IUI next week. I'm praying next month is our month and that we're blessed with our baby. Good luck to you with whatever you decide to do ?

I really want to try it and it seems a lot cheaper than IVF...after 3 failed cycles with clomid, we may move onto iui...let us know how it goes!

I did IUI with my first and it worked the first time. I have stage four endo so I had lots of scar tissue from lots of surgeries.

I just did my 4th iui this past week....so far no success but hoping this is it!!  I don't see any negatives in doing an iui, it's a quick procedure and not painful but slightly crampy

The average IUI success rate is ok. They say most if their clients conceive  on their 4-7 time of doing IUI.

​IUI only increases your odd of conceiving by 6-8%. But that can be what is needed to conceive. My DH has male infertility and we are doing clomid and IUI. Just finished with my second IUI and currently in that TWW. Good luck.

I did it once and paid $900 out of pocket.  Insurance covered testing and lab work, not the procedure.  Havent tried again.  Was very disappointed.

I tried IUI once with Clomid and an Ovidrel injection to promote ovulation.  BFN.  Took a few months  ff after that while waiting to get in to fertility specialist.  Going to try again this month with Femara instead of Clomid, daily FSH injections, and Ovidrel immediately prior to the IUI.  In my opinion, positives of IUI are: (relatively) low cost compared to some other treatments, fairly painless, can be done at my local OB/GYN's office.  Negatives: only increases chances of pregnancy by 6-8%, takes many doctor visits (2+ vaginal ultrasounds), has to be timed very specifically (difficult with my work schedule).  My specialist and I agreed to try this 2 more times, then on to IVF.

Hi ladies I have been hearing a lot about iui lately. How much is it and will insurance cover it? I may try it in a few months. The results seem mixed but hey, it can't hurt right?
