How long were you TTC before you found out you had male factor infertility?

Just wondering because my experience was that I went to my GP at 12 months TTC. GP told me to come back after another 6 months. I pushed another GP for bloods to be done and he suggested my partner saw his GP for semen analysis. At no point would the first step have beento check  my partner first, as is often the case despite a good percentage of infertility being caused by male factors.

Anyone else think it's ridiculous that most of the male infertility testers require a referral from OUR doctor? Why can't a dude just want to find out for himself if he's fertile or not? Maybe he wants to find out so if there's something wrong that's fixable he can work on that before he finds the person he wants to make a baby with.

My husband and I just found out he has a low sperm count and low mobility. He just started Clomid this week. We have been trying for 2 years now. Hopefully in a few months we see a positive test. ?

Guys tend to refuse or be reluctant to be tested so women are tested far more, but it's a 50/50 chance it's him. I went through rediculously long process to determine my body is a machine, but he has low sperm count :( Could have told us that a year ago...

I had to had to change doctor to begin been tested.
​After one year of trying, I went to this new doc who ordered some labs and recommend DH to go to his gp.
We both have factors. I'm still trying to understand my issues. Hormones, thireoids and long cycles.
​He went to see the urologist. After two SA, now he had his hormones checked as well.
