bc to control periods?

Is it worth trying out birth control in order to control periods? I'm not sexually active and I'm 16. So, I'm not worried about preventing a baby, but more trying to make my periods less annoying. Would it even work? If so, what would be the best form of bc to get?

I have taken BC for years for the purpose of shortening the length of my period (usually 7-8 days), hormone regulation, and acne maintenance. I began taking them when I was 16 myself and am now 22. Worth it!

I started taking the pill to control mine. I always had unbearable pain/sickness when I started.. I have been taking them for a year and a half, although it has defiantly helped with the pain, i never have a regular period any more. Never know when it's going to come, and IF it does come it may only be 2-3 days (not complaing though)

I honestly wouldn't recommend it unless your periods are completely unbearable, I start the pill at 15 for acne and it was the worst decision, I gained heaps of weight and I ended up with cysts on my ovaries which some people say is linked to the pill, I believe it is. I was told I wouldn't have children but I did fall pregnant eventually. Look into any sort of bc before you decide and make sure you are fully aware of the side effects they may cause. As you're not trying to prevent pregnancy maybe just look into natural ways of controlling and changing your period and the part that annoys it, like is it a heavy flow or cramps etc?
