If you're able to be a stay at home mom, is it wrong to work?

I feel until a child is in school full time they should be raised by a stay at home parent. Either mother or father. Obviously if you are a single parent or you need two incomes to put food on the table, then obviously go to work. However if you are doing it because you need adult time then it's selfish. What was the point of having kids if you only want to be there on evenings and weekends. I'm not saying you should never have time to yourself, but a parent should be raising the children, not a stranger. I can't imagine how heart breaking it would be find out that I wasn't there for milestones. Like first steps, or first words. All because I chose working over my kids.

Absolutely not wrong at all. Some parents just don't like the stay-at-home life. Do what works best for you. Your children will be just fine either way.

I am happy as a SAHM of 4. Some women prefer to have a career in addition to being a mom. As long as the kids are happy & healthy, mom should do what makes her happiest, too. Every family is different! :)

It's not wrong at all! I would love to work right now but my daughter is only 3 months old and I just feel like I need to be at home for a while and my husband agrees. If your able to work and you have a trusting babysitter then go for it! It's great to have some extra income and gives you a little time away from home so you don't get so bored!

I would not say it's" wrong". It's a personal preference for some. I enjoy being a stay at home mom. I wouldn't change it for the world. Once they are in school then i'd look into working part time just so I can participate in school activities with my children. My mom was a stay at home mom. Best thing ever!!!

Only as long as your not "running away" for your responsibilities as a mother. I think it's important to be with the child at least till pre k, but it is nice to be social and feel productive. Even thgh being a stay at home mom is being productive

Every woman is different. Its completely a decision you and your SO have to make together, and nobody else can decide if being a stay at home mom is right for your family
