Trying too hard?

So I just took out my Nuva ring the first Friday of this month, and got my period right after, and when it was done my husband and I have been having sex a lot... We are obviously trying to have a baby, but I'm not sure if the birth control is still kicking in. I was on it for about a year and a half so I'm really curious as to how long this could possibly be...? Glow told me my fertile days were the past couple days, but should I take ovulation tests instead?
