first trip to the Gynecologist?

alright I'm about to the age to have my Gynecologist to start looking "down there". I'm like extremely nervous.

Don't be nervous! My first time to the gynecologist, we sat down and talked about my regular cycle, whether or not I was sexually active, whether or not I wanted to consider birth control, etc. Whether or not you're sexually active will determine the kinds of tests he or she does, but regardless, your doctor will do an exam. They typically don't last more than a few minutes. Just try your best to relax your body; having a doctor examining that area of you is rather strange at first and can be mildly uncomfortable, but the more relaxed you are, the more comfortable you will feel!

I miss my old gyn.  Not only could I tell her all the horror stories of my relationships breakups but she would tell me about these wacky movies that only a gyno could love (for example, teeth). It takes a while to get used to being examined but if you have a good doc or NP or PA who you trust and like it is a great relationship to have.

It's. It even scary at all.. Usually when I go for my annual check up they just give me a pep smear

They r really nice the first time.  Feet in stirrups, scootch ur butt down to end of table and relax.  Look at poster on ceiling, or tell them they need a poster on the cieling and what u would like that poster to be.  
​It's fast.  Everybody does it & dr.  does it 10X a day.

They generally examine your vagina to check all is well, they may insert a speculum, take a few swabs from inside your vagina. Nothing scary. If your just going for a smear test thats all they will do

Dont be... its over with so fast. Dont listen to horror stories either. Just remember.. the doctors do this everyday :-)

it totally shared this before I finished typing. anyways I've never had some one down there before. except for my mom and doctor when I was younger. other than that I'm the only one who has been down there. what can I expect from the first time around?
